Assault on the Mountains of Madness
System: Call of Cthulhu 7th Edition (Pulp Variant)
GM: Angus Balkham
Description: 1944: the tide turns against the Hun in Europe. But far to the south, in Antarctica, the Allies discover a threat far greater than any imagined: a scheme by Germany’s most vile occultists to unearth something forgotten for millions of years from the frozen wastes and unleash it against their enemies. In desperation, the survivors of earler expeditions are brought together for one last attempt to stop these madmen before they summon what they cannot put down…
In this game, players will take the role of specialists brought together to lead the Allied assualt on Antarctica. This is both a horror game – there are truly incomprehensible things happening at the pole – and a quick, Nazi-punching pulp adventure, faster and with more combat than its predecessor.
Format: Discord (voice/video); Roll20 (sheets and dice)
Spaces: 6
Age Rating: 15
Content Advisories: Pulp violence, on-screen gore, actual Nazis, cosmic horror, simplistic depictions of mental illness
Ghoul Island
System: D&D 5th edition + Sandy Petersens Cthulhu Mythos
GM: Jamie Wheeler
Description: Looking to escape your once splendid but now decaying hometown, you earn passage on the ship Hazels Folly. Of course things don’t go to plan and soon you are trapped on the seemingly idyllic ghoul island. Discover the islands true history and the alien forces poised to return.
Ghoul Island is a campaign for Sandy Petersens Cthulhu Mythos, which blends D&D 5th edition with the eldritch horrors of the Cthulhu Mythos. Perhaps play as one of the new mythos races. Come to terms with your cursed background. Cast dark magics. Become doomed to wander the dreamlands. Level up AND go mad and die horribly.
Format: Voice with video preferred, Roll20
Spaces: 5
Age Rating: 15
Content Advisories: Horror, fantasy violence, insanity, (also as a published campaign it might be a little railroady, so figure out if that might frustrate you)
Legends of Heli
System: Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition
GM: Zain Khawar
Description: Heli is a homebrew world inspired by ancient south American and Asian civilisations with a touch of magic mixed into the universe. There will be crossover from real-life events in ancient history and mythology as well as events that are completely false and out of the mind of semi-competent GM!
Right now, Heli is more divided than it has ever been in its history! The people of Yangtze and the Kameran people seem to be edging ever closer to war and the previously long-time allies Chaya and Akkade seem to be growing further and further apart. And while all this chaos seems to occur, the Pakini people are finally considering opening their borders to the rest of the world.
For some reason, you find yourself at the VERY first gathering of all nations in centuries, so choose wisely…
(More of a fan of roleplay than combat FYI)
Format: Video/voice with Discord dice roller and D&D Beyond account
Spaces: 5
Age Rating: 15
Content Advisories: Murder, Invasions, Prejudice
Masks: A New Generation
System: Masks (PbtA)
GM: Vivek Santayana
Description: Being a teenager is hard: all adults around you have expectations of who you should be, you are at best an uncontrolled ball of hormones most of the time, and you and your friends are trying to enjoy the most exciting days of your youth. To make matters even messier, you have a lot of superpowers that you barely have any control over. Try not to blow up the city!
You are part of a team of teenage superheroes. You are trying to find where you belong in this world, as a kid growing into an adult, and as a superhero amidst the various paragon heroes of Halcyon City. And this game is all about navigating who you are and how you and your team stick together through the trials and tribulations of evil nemeses, finding prom dates, and skiving detention.
Format: Zoom, Discord for dice, google sheets for characters
Spaces: 5
Age Rating: PG
Content Advisories: Comic book action, likely teen romance
Out of the Abyss!
System: Dungeons and Dragons 5th edition
GM: Gregory Fenning
Description: Out of the Abyss is a published campaign aiming to be a challenging adventure, with a focus on survival and exploration of a cool environment, aided by many interesting NPCs.
It’s set in the fantastic Underdark, the subterranean cave-system miles below the surface, full of brain sucking monsters, soul sucking monsters and flesh sucking mushroom monsters.
The players have a lot of freedom, but there is a lot to manage, (food, time, events, madness and NPC’s) so someone who can keep notes will be more than welcome.
The campaign can end at either level 7 or level 15, but we’ll figure it out at the time
Format: Voice and text only, Roll-20 or D&D beyond, depending on what people like.
Spaces: 5
Age Rating: 15
Content Advisories: Violence, strong language, eldritch horror, madness, body horror, kidnapping.
