For the Greater Glory of GEAS

Hello People of Geas,

We are here to talk about the greatest event known to gaming. Conpulsion!

Haven’t heard of us? We are Scotland’s oldest Gaming convention proudly supported by GEAS.

Every year we book out the entirety of Teviot and some other spaces as well which we use to host a weekend of RPGs, Boardgames, Wargames, panels and demos. We have a trade hall selling everything nerdy under the sun and events like our fire sale, auction and pub quiz.

And best of all we do it all for charity! We partner with groups like the Grass market project to support local charity efforts.

So, what’s this email for? Well we need volunteers, the Conpulsion Committee is being assembled and we need you to be a part of it. We need people to fill the following roles:

Our glorious campaigns start tomorrow!

So be in the Amphion in Teviot tomorrow (Wednesday) at 6!

If you want to GM/DM please bring along ideas and books – we will find you players.

If you are playing bring your fine selves. (Paper, pencils, dice all beneficial though)

There will be more games starting on Sunday, at 1pm and 6pm.

Greetings Grand Adventurers

Our inaugural social of the year is tomorrow.
7pm. Balcony room (upstairs) in the Teviot.

Campaigns will start in the following week.

Wednesday 6-10pm, Sunday 1-5 and 6-10.
The first week: Wednesday the 19th and Sunday the 23rd will be in the Amphion in the Teviot.
After that we unfortunately don’t have bookings until the 6 weeks later game re-pitches, so we’ll just have to colonise the bars.

Looking forward to seeing you all, tomorrow (Friday) and next Wednesday and Sunday.

The weather forecast for tomorrow is holding strong so this is your reminder that the barbecue is tomorrow!

We’ll be meeting at noon in about the same place as last year on the Meadows, which I believe is somewhere along the Boys Brigade Walk. Please bring food/drink, especially if you want something specific, since we’ll be providing some basics but not everything.

I hope your summers are going well! You might remember last time I emailed you I mentioned that I was planning for the GEAS summer barbecue. Well, the weather this past week wasn’t great, so I delayed it to the coming week, which is looking much more promising. Therefore I’d like to announce for those of you still in Edinburgh that the Summer Barbecue will take place on the Meadows on Thursday the 7th of June at 12.

If you come along please do bring things to eat and/or drink, as we’ll provide some basics and the barbecues themselves, but if you want anything specific you’ll need to bring it.

We have had our summer games social, but worry not if you could not make it. Please find attached a spreadsheet with all the basic information you should need about the games running this summer. Please note that some of these games are full up (and I have noted by the ones that I know that are). If you require more information, please email the relevant GM.

Most importantly, please remember that the people GMing are taking the time to organise these games out of term time, and often are trusting you to come in to their own homes, so be civil.

The end of year Summer Games Social is finally arranged! My apologies for the lateness of this email, we have been delayed by things such as exams and transitional issues.

The Summer Games Social is Tonight in the Teviot Study, from 7pm.

For those who cannot make it to the social we will be collecting GM’s email addresses at the event and will try to facilitate joining people up with a game, but ultimately the games are run by the GM’s themselves and not GEAS.

I am also organizing a Summer BBQ for those still left in Edinburgh for the Summer. This is obviously dependent on the weather, but expect another email about that to be coming soon!
