Conpulsion Liaison Election

Greetings, Adventurers!
As you might remember from the March AGM, the committee decided to postpone the election of a new Conpulsion Liaison, due to uncertainties from the COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting lockdowns. Thankfully, things seem to be looking up and after taking nominations, voting is now open to fill the role. As usual, only student members can vote in the election and they will need to log in with their UoE Office account to do so. Voting will remain open until Monday the 21st of June at 12pm.

The ballot can be found here:
https://geas.org.uk/ballot

I love democracy.

P.S. Don’t forget that we’re have a social this Wednesday! We’ll be playing some Jackbox multiplayer games on the Discord from 7pm, so come along and put us to shame.

Reminders: Conpulsion, Pitches and Socials

Hello there, Adventurers!
We’ve just got a few reminders about what’s going on in the next week, it’s a full one so bear with me.
Conpulsion Liaison
Applications for Conpulsion Liaison are closing at 6pm today. We’re looking for a student to join the committee and help with the organisation of GEAS’s gaming convention, Conpulsion. You’ll be responsible for communications between the convention sub-committee and the main GEAS committee, as well as talking to EUSA when needed. It’s a great way to get involved with the society and the wider Scottish gaming scene!

If you’d like to apply to be the Conpulsion Liaison, you can get in touch with us at geas.committee. Please send us a short message about why you’d like to take on the role, this will be included on the online ballot.

Summer Pitches
We’ll be holding pitches for summer games at 6pm on Saturday the 5th June. Things are a bit more casual over the summer, with GMs running games outside of the normal GEAS timeslots. This means that you can potentially join more than one campaign, but please make sure that they don’t clash! We (at the time of writing) have 8 games running, these have been listed on our website and we’ll add more as we receive them. These can be found here:

https://geas.org.uk/2021/06/01/summer-2021-pitch-listings/

If you want to run a game and haven’t sent it to us yet, please submit it before 6pm today using this form:
https://forms.gle/Yp3H6MaGcHXGFPzH6

While these games aren’t officially run as a part of the society, all of the normal support is available to players and GMs, so should you need any help feel free to reach out.

Pub Quiz
Game pitches will be followed with a pub quiz and there’ll be prizes in the form of dice from Beholders Gaze (https://www.beholdersgaze.com/). Each member of the winning team will get their own set of shiny new math rocks, just in time for summer gaming!

Jackbox Game Night
If that’s not enough for you, we’ll also be hosting an evening of Jackbox on Wednesday the 9th June. We’re hoping to make our socials a bit more structured so we’ll be trying out some different activities over the summer. Keep an eye out for future events and let us know what you think!

Looking forward to seeing you all!

GEAS Secretary

Summer 2021 Pitch Listings

This is a listing of summer campaigns being pitched on the 5th of June, 2021. Pitches will start at 6 pm on the GEAS Discord server, followed by a Pub Quiz social. These games aren’t restricted to the normal GEAS game times, so please make sure to check that you’re able to make the listed times.

To sign up to a game, please join the GEAS Discord at https://geas.org.uk/discord

The post here is for information only, and sign-ups for games will happen on Discord after the GMs have pitched their games live.

Conpulsion Liaison Reminder

Hey there, Adventurers!
I just wanted to remind you all they we’re currently taking applications for a new Conpulsion Liaison.

Conpulsion is Scotland’s oldest gaming convention, taking place every year in April at Teviot Row House. Some of the events include: TTPRG one shots, board games, panels, and a sales hall. Though only open to students, this role is a great chance to get involved with the society and a beloved event in the Scottish TTRPG community. More information on Conpulsion can be found here https://conpulsion.org/.

The convention itself is organised by a sub-committee, with support and funding from the main GEAS committee. As liaison you’ll be expected to:

  • Attend meetings for both committees.
  • Relay information between the two.
  • Communicate with EUSA on behalf of the Conpulsion Director if they aren’t also a student.

If you’d like to apply to be the Conpulsion Liaison, you can get in touch with us at geas.committee. Please send us a short message about why you’d like to take on the role, this will be included on the online ballot. The deadline for applications is 6pm on the 4th of June, this coming Friday.

Looking forward to hearing from you,

Sophie Hine
GEAS Secretary

Conpulsion Liaison Nominations

Hey there Adventurers,
As you might remember from our recent AGM, we decided to postpone the election of a new Conpulsion Liaison. As exam season is now beginning to wind down, it’s time to open up nominations for the role.
Conpulsion is GEAS’s annual TTRPG convention, which’s been taking place since 1987, making it Scotland’s oldest gaming convention. It usually takes place in April at Teviot Row House; however, this year’s con ran online via the Gather Town platform. Unfortunately, we don’t currently know whether Conpulsion 2022 will be able to take place in person.

Although GEAS does run the convention, the event is planned by a sub-committee with support from the main GEAS committee. Your primary role will be communicating between the two committees as needed. Unfortunately, the position is only open to students.

You’ll be expected to:

  • Attend meetings with both committees.
  • Relay information between them.
  • Communicate with EUSA on behalf of the Conpulsion Director if they aren’t also a student.

Like with other committee roles an election will be held, in this case via an online ballot. As usual, only matriculated students can vote and you will need to sign in with your University of Edinburgh Office365 account to access the ballot platform.

If you have any questions or you’d like to apply to be the Conpulsion Liaison, then get in touch with us at geas.committee. Please send us a short message about yourself and why you’d like to take on the role for us to include on the ballot.

The deadline for applications will be the 4th of June at 6 pm, with voting opening the following day.

Repitches and Holiday One Shots

Hello there, Adventurers!
With teaching wrapping up this week and the Easter break starting, we won’t be holding any more repitches this term. Instead, we’ll be beginning preparations for summer games, so be on the lookout for an email explaining how to get involved.
Any games that are currently running are more than welcome to continue making use of the GEAS Discord, as are any GMs looking to organise a new game. The committee will still be available to help out with any problems you might have, be they technical, welfare, or otherwise.

Easter One-Shots

This Saturday, 3rd April at 6pm, GEAS will be hosting an Easter/April Fools one-shot event. Come along and relieve that end-of-term stress with some rabbit-themed hijinks.
If you’d like to GM a game, then you have until 6pm on Friday to submit your game here:
https://forms.gle/sXd57bvBZwX3fLJ48

May the dice be ever in your favour,
