EGM Results

An EGM was held last Sunday (15th April) to elect the remainder of next year’s committee. Which means it’s minutes time!

Conpulsion
The outgoing Conpulsion Coordinator gave a brief report on this year’s event, stating it had received good feedback all round.

Electing Committee
Webmaster: Alan Jackson
Social Secretary: Matthew Knighton
Conpulsion Liason: Phil Harris
Nationals Coordinator: Sam MacAdam

Other business
The Treasurer wished it to be raised that his timetable for next year was going to be particularly busy, and that if another student wanted to take over the position he was willing to step down. Noone wished to fully take the role, but offer was made of help handling some duties if the Treasurer found himself too busy to discharge them all.

AGM 2012

Another year, another AGM! This time round, the AGM was held on April 1st 2012. And here’s the minutes:

Constitution
The new constitution was discussed, the most prominent changes were stated and debated. The point was raised that the new conpulsion committee as proposed by the new constitution would be less flexible and not possible to uphold in the event of there not being enough people to fill all posts. An amendment to allow the AGM to choose an organizer in absence of an organized committee was proposed:

If no Conpulsion committee is available at the time of the AGM, a Conpulsion organizer may be elected at the AGM with the task to produce such a committee as soon as possible.

Voting on the new constitution: Passed unanimously
Voting on the new amendment: Passed unanimously

Electing new committee
President: Malin Sandell
Treasurer: Erich Essman
Secretary: Euan Reid
Librarian: Malin Sandell

The election of Webmaster, Social Secretary and Nationals Organizer was postphoned until the EGM following Conpulsion (to be elected together with the Conpulsion organizer).

Other business
It was clarified that the secretary is in charge of dealing with EUSA in general.
Old committee was thanked and relieved of responsibility.

2012 Gaming Sessions

Merry Christmas, Grand Adventurers

I hope your holidays are merry or otherwise enjoyable. Here are the specifics about the GEAS bookings for the spring.

Wednesdays (6pm – 10pm): The first session is January 18th in the Dining room. Then there is one week where there is no official session, so the second session is on February 1st, also in the Dining room. Then there is another skip week, but after that, all sessions should be running. All sessions after the second skip are in the Study.

Sundays (1pm – 5pm and 6pm – 10pm): The first Sunday session is January 22nd. Sundays are in the Dining room with a few exceptions. On January 29th (second week) and February 19th there are no official evening sessions and the sessions on March 25 are completely cancelled. On February 2nd and 19th, as well as April 29th, we will be in the Billiard room in the afternoon.

Hopefully, I should be around so that I can tell everyone what’s going on.

Games this year

These are the games that have been mailed to us. There might be be more around, this is not a complete list.

Wednesday:

The Ninth (Phil Harris)
Far in the future mankind still survives. On the planet of Aqua sea base Atlantis holds seven million humans.  Genetic adaptation has allowed some of the population to change to survive in the deepest pressures and breath from the water. These “divers” do the long range scouting and help maintain the resources Atlantis needs. Everything is calm, people are happy until someone starts to question why the “divers” seem to always have the best finds.

Air Ship Pirates (Alan)
Air ship pirates being air ship pirates in a punky Victorian Steampunk.

Scion (?)
I have received no info about this game, I just saw it being run. /jonatan

Sunday Afternoon
The Cat in Winter (Phil Harris)
Medieval fantasy. In the matriarchy of Pegion the people are happy and life is rich. The only problem is a spy called the Cat. This single person has apparently stolen documents that could not only upset Pegion but put it to war against its neighbouring countries.
You must stop this happening but is knowledge really power?

Sinners and Saints
(Stephen)
Actions have Consequences, Intentions good or bad make the difference. You are empowered, possessing extraordinary powers, you are superhuman and it is up to you how you use that power – will you be a Sinner or a Saint? You can create heaven or hell on Earth.

Uncharted
(Craig)
Modern high action and adventure, hunting for treaure and staying one step ahead of your rivals. New players welcome.

Distant Stars (
Matthew Knighton)
An action-adventure space opera on the edge of known space and beyond. The unknown frontier lies on the edge of known space, a star filled vastness of unknown possibilities. Join the Frontier Expeditionary Force today, no matter who you are, no matter where you come from, join the F.E.F and explore distant stars where adventure, fame, fortune and wonder await. Join today and lead the solar commonwealth into a bright new dawn. The unknown frontier awaits!

Cyberpunk: Broken Futures (
Matthew Barrowcliffe)
A world that makes 2011 America look like a socialist idyll, Newscorp look like a benevolent if bumbling cottage industry and may even make you misty-eyed for those lovable rogues in the banking industry. The streets are mean, the board rooms are slimy and the only people you can trust are your friends.
If you’re lucky.

InDiscworld
(Kuba)
InDiscworld takes place in Sir Terry Pratchett’s Discworld (what a surprise) and is based on mechanics of indie game InSpectres. Action will take place in Ankh-Morpork area and players will form an organisation which will focus on solving mysterious cases which may turn out to be linked by a bigger scheme (or not :)). The game mechanics strongly support players’ contribution towards creating the story and developing the world which should be unusual and interesting experience even for veteran players 😉
Overall, it’s going to be a light-hearted, entertaining game with potential to become a longer campaign with some interesting storyline. I’d preffer players who read at least one of Pratchett’s novels and/or played some RPG but it’s not strictly necessary.

Legend of the Five Rings
(Roderick)
A group of Magistrates is assigned to the border of the Lion and Crane clans, where an increase in strange happenings is paralleled by a rise in tension between the two clans, and maybe even the start of a war.

Sunday Evenings

Vampire: The Requiem
(Craig Oxbrow)
Modern personal horror in a world of darkness. New players welcome.

By the Blood of Knights (
Matthew Knighton)
A game of adventure, passions, power and tragedy in mythic Arthurian Britain. In the year of our lord 525AD the young king Arthur stands triumphant as high king of Britain. All is not said and done yet. This is a turbulent time rival kings and knights scheme and the Saxons mass beyond our shores the bloody chant of war upon their lips.  In this age the magic does not yet lie still and silent but instead quickens and stirs in throughout the land. Now where do you stand in this brave new world? What adventures, triumphs and tragedies lie ahead?

Ordinary people
(Phil Harris)
You are a set of ordinary people in a contemporary city.
Life is for living.Air Ship Pirates (Alan)
Air ship pirates being air ship pirates in a punky Victorian Steampunk.

Hero Wars
(Ben McCallum)
Hero Wars is a fantasy system that straddles a fine line between realism and utter pastiche. There is a distinct lack of dungeons and the dragons are several miles long and sleeping (otherwise you’d all be dead). The system is simple and the setting is based on real barbarian cultures, working on being internally consistent while still containing gods, elves, trolls, dinosaurs and intelligent, anthropomorphic, friendly ducks.
You play the youths of a barbarian clan, approaching your coming of age ceremony. No longer officially children and recently initiated to your gods of choice you have newly gained magical powers to experiment with and a series of trials to pass before you can claim your man/womanhood.
Can you then deal with the responsibilities of being a fully fledged barbarian hero?

Fresher’s Week Help Needed

Hello everyone, hope you all had a glorious summer, but now it’s September and it’s time for the days to get darker and for students to start skiving classes.

Fresher’s week this year runs from 12th-18th September, and as always I need some help during this week. So grab a pen and write the following down, and volunteer, and be merry.
Fresher’s Fair

Wednesday and Thursday (14th and 15th September), at Pleasance. Last year this was between 10am and 4pm, so I’m assuming it’s the same now. I’ll need people to help between 9am and 4pm (setting things up, etcetc). I cannot be there apart from small stints (my course has already started), so I need everyone to help as much as possible. I will sort the stall out, but I need people to run it for me.
Please let me know if you can help. ^_^
One-Off Gaming

Our usual one-off Gaming session is on Sunday 18th (1pm-5pm, 6pm-10pm) in Teviot Study. I think the Teviot Study’s a wee bit small, but we can meet there and then spread into the New Amphion. I need GMs to send me ideas for one-off Games they’d like to run so I can put them on the posters.
There will be a social event during the week (as usual), details will follow. Please can everyone reply to let me know about whether they can help.
Thanks,
Sam MacAdam

2011 Autumn venues and times

Hello all

I hope the summer has been  treating you well! Here are the details on times, dates and venues for this autumn’s GEAS sessions. Because of EUSA venue booking procedure, they’re a bit sketchier than usual but should be bearable.

Wednesdays (18:00): The first Wednesday session is September 21. Wednesday sessions will be at 18:00 in the Study of the Teviot and might overflow into the New Ampheon if space is required. The only known disturbance is that we will be in the Loft bar on October 5 but hopefully, I will be there and redirect people.

Sunday afternoons (13:00): The first Sunday sessions will be on October 2. In general, Sunday afternoon sessions will be in the Dining room (overflowing into the new Ampheon) but on October 9, November 13 and the four last sessions (November 27 and onwards) this session will be in the Study. Again, we should be redirecting people when these times come.

Sunday evenings (18:00): The first Sunday is still October 2 and all Sunday evening games are in the Study.

GMs that have games in both sessions (or otherwise similar groupings) have priority when overflowing into the New Ampheon.

I wish everybody a happy gaming semester and hope to see you all around.
